Eating & Drinking

___________

Auerbachs Keller

The traditional restaurant is not only known primarily for the food, but because of the historically saturated atmosphere:
Just like before millions of guests, Goethe was here, too! Faust-paintings trace the guest everywhere. Try the Fasskeller ceremony. The sensory feast commences with a "Mephisto's Fire" cocktail in the eponymous Mephisto Bar. The Cellarmaster then leads you down to the setting of so many tales, the aura of which moved the young Goethe to immortalise the legend of Faust in literature that was to become renowned worldwide - and with it, the cellar itself (bookable for minimum of 20 people).
Tourists touch Mephisto shoe before Auerbach's cellar. It is said to bring good luck. Who does not believe, has seven years of bad luck.
